Dr McCarthy Woods is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the NHS for the past 27 years with children, adolescents and adults presenting with a range of emotional and psychological issues and difficulties. She has worked in various clinical settings (schools, Child Guidance Clinic, GP surgeries, hospitals, community mental health teams, adolescent outreach team). She currently works at the Tavistock Clinic, where she is the Lead for the Adolescent and Young Adult Service, covering the 14-25 year age range.
During the course of her career, working at a senior level, she has been responsible for managing both adult psychology services and child and adolescent psychology services in Birmingham, Surrey and London and supervising and teaching trainee clinical and educational psychologists enrolled in doctoral-level training programmes.
In addition to her NHS work, she works privately, specialising in psychometric and educational assessments, for children, adolescents and young adults who may have difficulties with learning and/or specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, or problems with attention, organisation, processing and memory.
