Paediatric Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist
Dr Tara Murphy is a Consultant Paediatric Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist. She is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council and on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists with the British Psychological Society.
Dr Murphy has worked in the NHS since 1999 and at Great Ormond Street Hospital since 2003 where she developed services and currently co-leads the Neuropsychology service. She lived and worked in Africa between 2018-2020.
Specific interests are in the following areas:
- Psychological therapy for children and adults with tic Disorders
- Neuropsychological assessment for children and young people with learning vulnerabilities. She specialises in assessing children from International schools and colleges between 6-21 years of age
- Supervision for psychologists and other professionals
- Training and teaching for professionals and parents supporting children with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder etc)
Dr Murphy has written books for parents and young people with tic disorders and for professionals working with them. She has recently co-written a book for parenting teenagers: Dr Murphy has published more than 45 academic papers in her specialist areas and is actively involved in research including clinical trials of psychological treatments.
Dr Murphy is currently available to offer a hybrid approach of online and face to face assessment.
