The Next 8 Week Mindfulness based cognitive therapy course at The Child and Family Practice – starts 16th September 2015
.WHAT IS MINDFULNESS BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY? (MBCT) This evidence-based program is highly recognized, established & taught all over the world. Using as a base the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction program and its simple meditation techniques and gentle movements, it combines mindfulness practices with tools and techniques of psychology and the study of wellbeing.It’s an eight-week life-skills course, consisting of 8 two-hour sessions and 1 reunion session (optional). Sessions consist of a combination of mindfulness meditation exercises, gentle movement, discussions and instructions. They will also introduce you to a variety of ways of identifying and dealing with difficult thoughts, feelings, sensations and moods commonly associated with stress, pain, anxiety and depression. You are invited to develop your own practice through weekly home assignments. In order to fully benefit from the course, regular practice is necessary. A workbook and CDs will be provided to assist you. Note: This course is not recommended for people who have recently been bereaved or are presently suffering from clinical depression, psychosis or suicidal ideation.
